Whitney’s story – redefining
her past
In 2025, Whitney, one of the people we
support, took to the stage as a finalist in the
Miss Generation beauty pageant – a national
competition that celebrates women of all ages,
backgrounds, and experiences.
For Whitney, who has faced neglect, bullying, and
mental health struggles, this stage was more than
a competition. It was about challenging labels,
breaking down barriers, and proving that true
beauty is about confidence, resilience, and being
unapologetically yourself.
She told the audience:
I had a bad
upbringing and I wanted to
prove I am somebody. Miss
Generation has given me
the chance to do that.”
Whitney’s year was capped by winning an
award at our annual Star Awards, where she also
performed her favourite Whitney Houston song
acapella in front of an audience of 120 people.
Whitney’s story shines a light on what inclusion
really means – creating spaces where everyone
has the freedom to be seen, heard, and celebrated
for who they are. Together, these milestones show
that we are building a culture where difference is
celebrated, voices are heard, and everyone has the
opportunity to thrive.
