Our impact through
governance
Good governance is integral to achieving our mission. This year
we have demonstrated strong, values-based leadership through
co-production, collaboration and inclusion.
Leading through co-production
This year we have strengthened our reputation for supporting
people to use their lived experience to improve their lives and
bring about change. For the first time, we invited two people
with lived experience to join our Board as paid advisors.
We have helped the Pro-Active Community, a user-led charity
which began life in 2015 as a group of like-minded people
supported by Active Prospects, to win a £75k, three-year grant
from the Lloyds Bank Foundation. Through the grant, the ProActive Communty has been able to recruit a General Manager for
the first time – a key step in securing a sustainable future.
In 2025 we continued to hold quarterly Big Feedback events,
which bring together people from across our homes to discuss
their priority issues. We co-produced several research studies with
people we support and research bodies including the University
of Surrey, National Institute for Health and Social Care Research
(NIHR) and the University of Kent. The trailblazing Together
Project – which provides student midwives at the University of
Surrey with learning disability awareness training – continues to
go from strength to strength.
Being part of the board is an
important role which allows my
views to be heard. I enjoy being part
of the board.”
