Our Environmental Champions Network grew in influence
across the organisation this year, with teams sharing ideas and
implementing local changes - from growing vegetables in shared
gardens to replacing single-use plastics with reusable alternatives.
People we support took an active role in shaping and leading
green projects, including biodiversity gardens, upcycling
workshops, and energy-saving initiatives. These activities not only
help the planet but also support mental wellbeing, confidence
and social connection.
Thanks to a nomination by internationally-renowned
photographer Christie Goodwin, whose son Charlie lives in one of
our homes, we were selected by the global photography company
CEWE as the charity partner during Christie’s jury presidency of
the CEWE Photo Award.
This generous support enabled us to launch Creative Moments
– a new project designed to spark creativity and connection
through photography. People we support were encouraged to
explore nature with a camera, and submit their photographs to
a panel of judges from Active Prospects and CEWE. The winners
were announced at our annual Star Awards.
Supporting Biodiversity
We have extended our biodiversity project to two further homes
this year. Improving the biodiversity of our gardens was originally
the idea of Michael, who lives in one of our homes in Caterham.
Michael has been integral to the expansion of the project; now
two more gardens support more native plant life, pollinators
and sensory experiences - creating inclusive environments that
support wellbeing and bring people closer to nature.
I want people’s gardens to be full
of life - better for wildlife and insects and
places for everyone to enjoy. I’m proud
to help develop biodiverse gardens across
Active Prospects.”
